The award-winning Rheem® H2AC® Rooftop Unit featuring eSync™ integration technology is part of the industry’s first and only integrated air and water system designed specifically for full-service restaurants and other commercial applications with high hot water demand. This system brings new levels of savings and efficiency to businesses by preheating water using heat removed from the building through the air conditioning process.
The more hot water you use while the air conditioner is operating, the faster the payback—typically less than two years1
H2AC is more than twice as efficient as a standard AC unit because it uses heat captured from the air conditioning process
eSync Integration Technology automatically switches modes whenever there is an opportunity to pre-heat water
Check from your office or home how one system, or multiple systems, are running and how it’s affecting your bottom line
The Rheem Integrated Air and Water System consists of the Rheem H2AC Rooftop Unit, Rheem Storage Tank and Rheem Condensing Commercial Tankless Water Heaters (recommended for maximum savings) or other Rheem water heating systems.
Ground-temperature water enters the restaurant and is piped to the Rheem H2AC Rooftop Unit.
Hot air is pulled from the building’s interior to the Rheem H2AC Rooftop Unit where the rejected heat raises the water temperature to at least 125°F with eSync Integration Technology. Conditioned air is then supplied back to the building’s interior.
Pre-heated water is sent to the Rheem Storage Tank where this cycle is repeated to keep the water at 125°F.
Upon demand, pre-heated water from the storage tank travels to the Rheem Tankless Water Heaters, where it is quickly brought up to 185°F. Note: The H2AC system works with a variety Rheem commercial tank and tankless water heating systems from standard to high efficiency.
Hot water up to 185°F is distributed throughout the restaurant as needed for cooking and sanitation.
If your business uses rooftop air conditioning units and more than 1,500 gallons of hot water per day, you’ll see significant savings with this system. The H2AC Rooftop Unit is sized according to standard load-calculation methods, while the water heater is specified like any standard tank or tankless selection procedure. Your Rheem representative will be happy to provide more information and recommend a solution tailored to your needs.
In most cases, the optimal place for your H2AC Rooftop Unit is above an area that produces a lot of heat, typically the kitchen, dryer area, etc. It’s also best to position the H2AC Rooftop Unit, Storage Tank and Commercial Condensing Tankless Water Heaters in close proximity so you can get maximum efficiency from your Integrated Air and Water System.
